Aliénor in a few words

Aliénor is a consulting agency based in Brussels and specialized in politics and communication. Founded in 2013, we are a dynamic and growing company. We deal with varied and exciting subjects such as agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, circular economy, sustainable mobility, crafts etc. and offer personalised services to our clients: lobbying strategies’ development and implementation, legal advice, events and bilateral meetings’ organisation, legislative and political developments monitoring, institutional communication, Europeans associations and discussion groups’ management etc. We are also involved in several European projects, for which we oversee the results’ communication and dissemination to European decision-makers. Our team counts 10 people, including the 3 founders and current directors of the company.

The position

The consultant will work on topics related to the EU fisheries and transport sectors. In particular, he/she will take part in the management of the European Parliament Forum on recreational fisheries and the activities related our informal discussion group on sustainable mobility .

The consultant will work under the supervision of a manager and a director.

More specifically, the person will have the following missions:

  • Carry out legislative and political monitoring
  • Organise events involving different stakeholders (round tables, conferences) under the leadership of the manager
  • Participate in the development and the implementation of lobbying strategies adapted to the clients’ needs, according to their priorities
  • Represent our clients at relevant meetings and report to them about the results
  • Create and manage communication tools for our customers
  • Draft documents (position notes, articles etc)
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts in the relevant sectors
  • Draft activity reports and meetings’ minutes

As part of the position, occasional travel is expected.

Although Aliénor promotes the stability of the files’ attribution to its employees, this position may evolve in the future both with regard to the subjects treated and the missions carried out. If necessary, the consultant may be called upon to work in the other hubs of the agency.

Experience and training

Required skills

  • Very good knowledge of the functioning of European institutions, policies and the legislative process
  • Previous professional experience in European affairs of at least 2 years
  • Excellent command of English both orally and in writing
  • A very good level of French, to allow for a good integration in a predominantly French-speaking team and possibly work with French-speaking clients
  • Good knowledge and handling of social networks
  • Very good working knowledge of Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Interest in fishing and transport topics

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of transport and/or fishing policies
  • Experience in the European Parliament
  • Proficiency in more EU languages
  • Knowledge of other IT and communication tools

  • Have a team spirit, a positive and constructive state of mind, a desire to progress
  • Be able to manage different priorities in the given time, have good organisation and great versatility: be able to move quickly from one subject to another and from one type of mission to another

  • Be able to convince others: articulating messages and adapting them to various audiences
  • Be able to adapt and listen
